The Arctic convoys of World War II played a crucial role in delivering essential supplies to the Soviet Union, often in treacherous conditions. Many New Zealanders served in these convoys, primarily in the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy, and Fleet Air Arm. Their contributions, though largely unrecognised in New Zealand’s wartime historiography, were vital to the war effort. Recent research, including the work of Grace Penlain, has helped identify and document these individuals, ensuring their service is acknowledged. The following list provides the names of New Zealanders who took part in the Arctic convoys, honouring their role in one of the most perilous maritime operations of the war.
