You may browse this website without providing any personal information. Where you voluntarily provide personal information the Museum will only use that information for the specific purpose stated. Email newsletters
You will receive email newsletters from the Museum if you have expressly signed up for a newsletter. You may unsubscribe to a newsletter service at any time using the unsubscribe link within each email newsletter sent by us.
Cookies
The website has been designed to automatically issue acookieto visitors. This is used to provide information to enable us to analyse overall visitor activities on the website and to provide a site more tailored to your needs and interests. We do not use cookies to collect personal information, nor do we link non-personal information stored in cookies with personal information about you.
Use of the Museum logo
The Museum logo must not be placed on an external website, or otherwise used by any external party, without the express approval of the Museum. Please contact us if you would like more information about use of the Auckland Museum logo.

Collection and Sharing of Your Information
Auckland Museum (Museum) works together with The Auckland Museum Foundation (Foundation) and the Auckland Museum Institute (Institute). The Foundation is a registered charitable trust, the purpose of which is to raise funds for the benefit of the Museum. The Institute is the membership body of the Museum and organises a programme of lectures, discussions, field trips and other events for the benefit of members.
To get the most from your Museum, we seek your permission to share your information with the Foundation and Institute.
We value the information you provide and want you to know that it is protected by the Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 2020.
• All personal information you share with the Museum will be held by the Museum, and dealt with according to the Privacy Act 2020. Your records will be kept securely.
• This information is being collected to assist the Museum to coordinate user and donor services.
• With your consent, your personal information may be shared with the Foundation and Institute. It will not be shared with other agencies unless the Museum is required by law to do so.
• Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to ask to see all the information the Museum holds about you and to ask us to correct that information.
Giving your consent
When submitting a form, or making a payment, you agree for your details to be used by the Auckland Museum and shared with The Auckland Museum Foundation and Auckland Museum Institute. The information will only be accessed by Museum, Foundation or Institute staff or persons contracted to those organisations. I understand my data will be held securely and will not be distributed to other parties except as required by law. I have a right to change or access my information at any time.

The Museum disclaims and excludes all liability for any claim, loss, demand or damages of any kind whatsoever (including for negligence) arising out of or in connection with the use of either this website or the information, content or materials included on this site or on any website to which it is linked.

Auckland War Memorial Museum Membership Terms & Conditions
1. General
1.1 In these terms and conditions:
“Benefit” means any special offer, discount, privilege or benefit granted to a Member on account of the type of Membership held by that Member.
“Membership” means an approved membership of Auckland Museum.
“Museum” means the Auckland War Memorial Museum situated at Domain Drive, Auckland.
“MMFWP” means a Museum Membership Friends and Whānau Pass.
'you' or ‘Member’ means the person named in the membership application form and 'we', 'us' or 'our' means Auckland War Memorial Museum Trust Board.
2. Memberships
2.1 We offer different types of Memberships. The applicable type of Membership requested is to be clearly stated on the membership application form.
2.2 Membership is confirmed once full payment of the Membership fee as stated in the membership application form is received by us.
2.3 Membership is either valid for one year or three years from the date of payment as set out in clause 2.2 or until cancelled or terminated pursuant to these terms and conditions.
3. No Transfer or Refund of Membership
3.1 You cannot transfer your Membership to anyone else.
3.2 Once payment is made, the Membership and any fees or charges are non-refundable.
4. Access
4.1 Access to various parts of the Museum, and particular exhibitions will vary depending on the type of Membership chosen. This will be identified in the Membership application form.
4.2 Our Standard Auckland Museum Terms and Conditions of Entry apply in addition to these terms and conditions. A copy of these can be viewed in the Museum’s website. In the event of any conflict, the Standard Auckland Museum Terms and Conditions of Entry shall prevail.
5. Minimum Age
5.1 The minimum age for Membership is 5 years old.
5.2 Any child needs the express permission of their guardian before signing up as a Mini Member. A guardian is an adult that has a legal power to make decisions on behalf of the Mini Member.
6. Member Contact Information
6.1 You must always provide us with correct contact information and advise us of any changes to that information (name, phone number(s), postal address, email address, emergency contact numbers).
6.2 All personal information that we collect about you will be held by us in accordance with our Privacy Statement, a copy of which can be viewed in our website.
6.3 We will only use that information for purposes required for the applicable membership, including administration of your account, and for marketing purposes. We will take all reasonable precautions to protect your privacy. You have the right to access and request correction of any personal information we hold about you at any time.
7. Membership Benefits
7.1 Benefits for each type of Membership are those Benefits set out in the membership application form.
7.2 All Benefits are for personal use only and cannot be transferred, assigned, resold or used for commercial purposes or gain.
7.3 Benefits and prices related to each type of Membership is subject to change at our discretion.
7.4 Membership does not automatically entitle you to discounts on other Museum events, unless specifically stated in the membership application form.
7.5 Discounts for Mini Museum Members at the participating cafes and restaurants do not include alcoholic drinks.
8. Museum Membership Friends & Whānau Pass
8.1 A MMFWP is limited to three per Member and only valid in conjunction with and for the duration of your Membership.
8.2 A MMFWP is not specific to any one person, but any friends and whānau user must be accompanied by a Member when accessing the Museum.
8.3 A MMFWP can be purchased throughout the year and will expire at the end of your Membership term.
8.4 An MMFWP does not entitle the user of the pass to discounts in the Museum stores or cafes.
9. Auto-Renewal of Memberships
9.1 By opting into Membership auto-renewal, the purchaser agrees to their Membership being automatically renewed using the credit card details provided at the time of sign up.
9.2 An advance notice by email will be sent out 21 days prior to the expiry of the current Membership advising the Member their credit card will be debited seven days prior to their membership expiring date.
9.3 To cancel a Membership auto-renewal, the member will need to contact us in writing prior to the expiry of the Membership or within 14 days after the Membership has expired. Memberships cancelled after this period will not be refunded.
9.4 An administration fee of $20 will apply to cover administration costs for processing Membership refunds once the credit card has been debited.
10. Membership Cards
10.1 Your membership access card is for personal use only. You must present your membership card on entry to the Museum and on request by any member of our staff.
10.2 Membership privileges are available only on presentation of a current Museum Membership card.
10.3 We reserve the right to terminate your Membership if your Membership card is used by someone else or if you are in breach of these Terms & Conditions or Standard Auckland Museum Terms & Conditions of Entry. You must tell us immediately if you lose or damage your card. You will be charged a replacement fee for any replacement card provided.
11. Conduct
11.1 You must comply with any rules as displayed at the Museum or on our website (including the Standard Auckland Museum Terms and Conditions of Entry) and with the instructions of our staff, and:
(a) only use any equipment or facilities at the Museum in a safe and sensible manner.
(b) be courteous, considerate and respectful of our staff, other members and members of the public visiting at the Museum. Unlawful, disruptive, dangerous or offensive actions will not be tolerated.
(c) not engage in any unauthorised commercial activity.
(d) not carry out any illegal acts at the Museum.
(e) comply with any of our health and safety requirements, including any instructions or directions given to you by our staff.
11.2 We reserve the right to require you to leave the Museum immediately if you carry out any activity which we consider to be dangerous, offensive or in breach of these terms and conditions or any health and safety requirement (whether it is documented or not).
12. Termination
12.1 We may terminate your Membership immediately if you materially breach any of these terms and conditions. You are not entitled to a refund or part refund in that case. We also reserve the right to terminate your Membership by providing you with at least two months written notice, in which case we will refund you any membership fees paid for any period after the date of termination.
13. Our liability
13.1 Use of any equipment or facilities at the Museum is entirely at your own risk and you are responsible for your property when you are at the Museum. Without limiting your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986, neither we, nor any of our staff, employees or contractors are liable for any loss, damage or physical or mental injury arising out of or in connection with your use of any equipment or facilities at the Museum as a Member except to the extent that we have caused or contributed to such loss or damage.
14. Your liability
14.1 You are responsible for any damage you cause to any exhibits, equipment or facilities at the Museum, and you indemnify us against any loss, damage or injury we suffer or incur from your actions at the Museum.
15. Variations to Terms and Conditions
15.1 We may amend or change these terms and conditions from time to time. Any such changes will be published on our website. We will notify you of any substantive changes to Benefits or opening hours by post, email or publication at the Museum and on our website.
15.2 If you are not happy with the change to these terms and conditions you may cancel your Membership within 20 days of publication or notification of such change.
16. Assignment
16.1 We may assign or transfer any of our rights or obligations relating to your Membership to a third party at any time.
17. Publicity
17.1 We may take general photographs or videos of the Museum or in the Museum at any time. If you appear in those photographs or videos, you agree that we may use them for marketing and promotional purposes and that you have no rights or copyright in the material. You release us, the photographer or filmmaker and each of their licensees and from any and all claims and demands in connection with the material or its future use. If you would prefer not to be photographed or prefer that your photograph not be published, please let the photographer/filmmaker know or contact the Museum in advance of your visit. If you appear in a published image and object to the image being published, then please contact us.
